Monthly Market Update

Whistler saw 39 sales in July, which is lower than the 5-year average of 53 sales in July. Of these sales, 87% went for under the asking price, while 13% went for over asking. However, overall, Whistler prices have steadily increased since bottoming out (in this cycle) in December 2022 (see graph).

Squamish had 34 sales in July, which is lower than the 5-year average of 43 sales in July. Of these sales, 74% went for under asking, 18% went for asking price, and 9% went for over. However, overall, Squamish prices have (also) steadily increased since bottoming out in December 2022 (see graph).

Most people are highly sensitive to interest rates. Inflation is coming back in line and central bankers will lose support for further hikes. As soon as there’s confidence in the trajectory of borrowing costs, both Squamish and Whistler will likely become extremely competitive again.

Now is a good time to consider your real estate goals – we have the luxury of time and this isn’t always the case with these markets. Get in touch with questions anytime, I’m always happy to help.

Have a great month!
